Tweetbot 2.0 for iPhone

It’s been awhile since our last major Tweetbot update, but today we are proud to announce Tweetbot 2.0 for the iPhone! We hope the wait was worth it. Tweetbot 2.0 is a free upgrade for current users.

So What’s New?

This version comes with many significant improvements to the Timeline and Direct Messages. Here are the major changes in more detail:

    • Cell colors adjusted for better contrast
  • New direct message view.
  • Redesigned “New Tweets” bar (Can be dismissed by tap and configured in Settings > Display)
  • Timed auto-refresh (timeline, mentions, and DM’s will refresh every 5 minutes)
  • Readability added as mobilizer service
  • Much improved tweet replies view
  • Links in user’s bio now tappable

The Readability settings don’t stick. Meaning I can use Readability, change the size of the text, theme, whatever, on an individual website … but then when I visit a new website via a new tweet, then the default Readability settings kick in.

Can you fix that?

Feel free to email me if you want me to elaborate further.

Seriously, great update. I got myself all in a tizzy with false hopes so any disappointment is my own fault. Keep being awesome, guys.

could you make the gray/black/blue hashtag/text/links an option? I like them to all be the same color.

I agree with “highlighted links” – doesn’t look pleasing to an eye when bolded like that…

A great app has gotten even better! I agree though that the bolded @usernames are not too visually appealing, and kind of inconsistent since other tappable links are not bolded.

Please, please make the highlighted links, hashtags, and usernames an option. I loved the previous version of Tweetbot because it was easy and pleasing to read. The multitude of colors, bold, inline images, and variable row widths make it way too noisy. I’m already getting a headache trying to scan my feed.

Sweet! Thanks! I’m sure many others have mentioned it, but there are no good iPad Twitter clients right now, so I’ll just add to that request! :)

Doesn’t seem to remember last read tweet when switching between lists like previous version did. It jumps all the way to most recent tweet. Can this be fixed as its really inconvenient. I thinkI should have waited to upgrade.

Yes, iPad version, please! TweetBot is the ONLY good client for Apple products!

Image thumbnails are great, thanks! I was really hoping for improved handling of saved searches, though. I use them a lot and want to be able to switch easily between a hashtag and my timeline (as with lists).

Love the updates.

Could you also add ‘tweetlonger’ for the tweets that are over 140 characters? :)

Telling me the number of new tweets I have to read is great and a feature which was missing previously.
I loved this feature when I’ve used other Twitter clients, now Tweetbot is complete for me.

Love the update, but I loved how on the original tweetbot when I had composed a tweet, my tweet would turn up blue on the time line. Is there any way to enable that again?

Also, is there any way to disable the little thumbnail images? I rather not have those visible

Otherwise thanks for the update!!!

When I mute someone, I’d like all their tweets to vanish from the timeline and not just newly loaded tweets.

Brilliant update, guys! Loving the iPad version as well!

Hi there,

I love Tweetbot, but I’m not sure I like some of the changes in V2.0. Single tapping links makes it harder to bring up the contextual menu for that tweet. I prefer the old style where you can press to select the tweet cell anywhere or double press to select the handle or link. This is especially true for single-line tweets. Damn muscle memory!
Other than that, great work and thanks for Tweetbot for iPad.

i use twitter primararily as a news reader and organize my information into different lists

i have noticed that almost any time i load a list, the entire lists needs to be refreshed. and when this is done it always puts me at the top. this seems much more counter intuitive and bandwidth intensive and slower to the previous version where the new tweets are added on top of where i last stopped reading.

this app has the potential to start being a bandwidth hog if entire lists need to be refreshed on a constant basis. i hope you can fix this because this is a great app!

lists no longer remember last read tweet. please fix asap. one of the big features was that each list in tweetbot was given the same treatment as my timeline. without that, i lose a lot of motivation to choose tweetbot.

How does one disable the avatars/display pictures from the timeline in Tweetbot? It’s a way of saving precious bandwidth. Let me know. In case, that feature is missing, I urge Tweetbot to build it soon.
