Ready, Set, Whoops.

The Bad News:

The push service isn’t working in 1.4. Provisioning profile issues. Human error. We are truly sorry. We submitted a new build with a fix that will work. We’ve politely asked Apple to expedite the process so hopefully the wait won’t be too long. But don’t feel too upset about this because the service was limited to 1000 people for launch anyways (read why here). Unless you downloaded it as soon as it was available, you probably wouldn’t have gotten access (at least not right away).

The Good News:

The good news is you’ll get another chance to get access when the update is out. :) Lets hope the approval process is quick. Yay?

But in all seriousness, we are truly sorry for the bad news. We know many of you have been waiting for this feature. But it’s still coming and soon enough everyone will be happy. Thanks for your patience and understanding that there’s always issues that come up when humans are involved in building things.

Sorry to hear – I was sitting in front of my computer constantly hitting Cmd+R in the iTunes store for about an hour.

Anyways – is there a way for us to know if we were added to the list of 1,000 (yes, you put those thousands separators =P) that will have push notifications, or will this list reset with the new update?

I’m happy because now I have another chance to be one of the 1000 people to get access to push notifications!

If the Bot apps were built by machines then they would be Android apps. (see what I did there?). And I wouldn’t use them.

Your work rocks my Bots off!

Everyone makes mistakes; that’s why pencils have erasers. You guys might want to look at disabling notifications for all but mentions, DMs, and replies (maybe even just the last two) to cut back on server strain. Even the official Twitter client doesn’t have notifications for things like favourites, etc. Just a thought. Maybe that way, you can loose it to a larger segment too. 1,000 is nothing. It’ll fill up in a minute :0

I love you guys anyway!

You have an excellent product and service, just charge for the notifications from the beginning and open up to all your clients, it’s worth it just to use Tweetbot, don’t alienate your loyal clients, it will come back to bite you in your revenue, make it available to everyone, thank you.

@cSaids: We aren’t limiting access because of costs. We are limiting access so we can properly scale for all of our users. Twitter also only gave us a limited amount of access so they can properly scale as well.

Loving your work guys. What’s already in 1.4 and working is the bomb. Push is going to make it even better. Cheers for your hard work.

BTW - it’s great how easy it is to configure the app. I attempted to move to a custom URL shortening service with no advanced knowledge of how to do it (or if it was even possible). 2 minutes later I was configured and everything JUST WORKED. I think my grandmother could have done it, it was so un-complicated.

Well, that’s the bad thing if you’re living in Switzerland: You’ll receive the updates later than the rest (esp. the US) and so you’re absolutely out of chance to get this push notifications. Only seconds after the update was released, already all 1’000 seats were taken. Too bad…

make the app a little thinner so we can see more of the time line or enable it to allow the font to get smaller n make the list loadable thru the main dock and refreshes as the mentions and direct messages would
