Pastebot v1.1

Pastebot v1.1 is now available in the App Store. Here’s a quick overview on what’s new:

  • New Language Translation Filter
  • Ability to select app launch location
  • Ability to create new folder during move
  • Ability to duplicate clips
  • Ability to group and ungroup clips
  • Support/About sections in preferences
  • Enable/disable text links in preferences (disabled by default)
  • Various bug fixes

I wanted to mention that there have been some reshuffling of some of the button icons and menus. We hate making changes like this, but felt it was necessary for the growth of the app.

You also need to update your version of Pastebot Sync. FYI, the new version of Pastebot Sync doesn’t work with Pastebot 1.0x and vice versa. You can grab the new version of the sync app here.

We are now hard at work on app #4 and extremely excited about it. Let us know what you think and don’t forget to leave a review in the app store!

Awesome, thanks for adding in the URL detection feature, this makes a common use case of the app much easier.

Great additions! Thanks!

Nice job! It would also be nice to have the option to prevent the iphone to go to sleep mode when pastebot is open.

I’m really curious about app4… a money/budget management app would be awesome, but i’m sure that what ever it is it will be another must have!

Hooray!

Nit: My preference pane still says 1.0.2 (though it’s 1.1 in the Get Info window).

Nevermind…System Preferences must have cached the old one. >_<

Good show.

I’m curious about the UI changes. What exactly has changed? (either in design or position)

Thanks for the update. Excited to hear an app 4 is in the works! A password manager bot would be a nice addition to the Tapbots family.

Feature request: The option to SELECT ALL in the clipboard, so that deleting all the old crap in there isn’t such a royal pain.

Thanks for a great app.

edit: forget the above. After removing the old pref. pane and re-install of the new everything worked like a charm.

Your faq (see below) should say SECURE private home network, SEE square brackets below.

Is the data transferred between my Mac and Pastebot secure?

Not at the moment. Including encryption would have delayed the app approval process by months so we decided to launch without it and add it in a future release. This is not really an issue when using Pastebot Sync on a [SECURE] private home network. If you are using Pastebot Sync over a public network, we highly suggest not syncing any sort of sensitive data to and from Pastebot.

I have a few use case issues I’m having with Pastebot. I love it, don’t get me wrong but these things make me second guess how much information I put into the app and limit my uses.

1. There is no way to export my data. If I ever have to create a new iPhone profile everything in Pastebot is gone. This is more of a fault with the way Apple handles backups but a problem none the less.

2. Pasting back and forth between my machine and phone is a God send, but being that I’m not on wifi or I’m on public wifi most of the time I find this difficult to work with.

3. I’m getting an iPad and I’m hoping there is some awesome way for these different devices to be aware of each other? Maybe via bluetooth or something else?

The biggest issue is if all this information is stuck in my iphone only then I need some way to always get it out and use it. Otherwise right now I’m still having to store a lot of info in notes so that I can get it back and forth without the use of the wifi trick.

Will it be possible to just auto-sync with both macs in my house? It’s too painful to switch them in settings every time.

Any plans for an iPad version that can sync with iPhone and Mac?

I’d like to see Pastebot sync get more functionality on the Mac itself. I currently use JumpCut to keep a running list of recent clipboard items. If PS worked like jumpcut, it would mean a) 1 less item in my menubar, and b) the ability to not worry about having to have Pastebot running on the iphone when I want to keep them in sync. I’d be happy if my last 20-40 clipboard items on the iphone and on the mac were in sync at all times.
