Pastebot Sync 1.0.2 Now Available!
Hello Everyone. We’ve just pushed out an update to Pastebot Sync that addresses some of the popular requests we’ve received since launch. This update makes moving images back and forth even easier than before! Here are the changes:
New Features
- Ability to paste images directly to the Finder and iPhoto.
- Ability to copy groups of images both ways.
- File names of images copied from the Finder, iPhoto, and Safari are saved and also automatically become titles in Pastebot for better search results.
- Titles added to images in Pastebot become the file name when pasted to the Finder
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed issue with no menubar in 10.5.
- Fixed issue with images appearing in Pastebot as “Unknown Data” in 10.5.
There are 3 ways to get this update.
- Wait for the auto-update to pop up.
- Select “Check for Updates” from the Pastebot Sync menu icon. (10.5 users can’t do this because of the bug which has been fixed)
- Download directly from our website (If you redownload, be sure to turn the Sync app OFF and back ON after the install to restart the service)
Let us know if you have any questions or issues!

A big big thanks from me. That was pretty fast!
Ehh.. it seems to automatically paste the images (PNGs) into the finder after the first copy+paste. Is that intentional?
@Gospel9: Not sure what you mean by that. If your finder is in focus on the mac and you do a “paste to mac” action, it will copy that image to the finder. That is intentional.
Oh I guess that makes sense. It felt a little weird for me to not need to press Cmd+V to do a paste that’s all. It works wonderfully by the way.
I noticed another thing. When doing “Import image from Library” from pastebot, it copies a JPG compressed image instead of the original. When opening the Photos.app and doing a manual copy, then pasting into Pastebot, it shows up as the original (PNG).
@Gospel9: The compression is something on Apple’s side, not ours. Not much we can do to control it, unfortunately.
First of all, congrats on your wonderful app – could make it to be one of my most used ones in no time. Pasting image files directly to the Finder works great, but I’m somewhat missing the possibility to copy + paste any document or even whole files as it worked for me with the previous version. Also, I very much like that I can copy + paste vector data, e.g. to and from Illustrator. Very neat and I use it a lot! But unfortunately it doesn’t work as flawlessly as pasting images or texts. So, improvement on that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!
You can’t really claim that data gets pushed to your phone when it requires local network WiFi.
I got suckered into this when I saw the word “push” and it’s simply false advertising.
The WiFi on my iPhone is almost always off to save battery. Turning it on every time you want to import stuff into Pastebot sort of defeats the purpose of the convenience.
I could use AirSharing for that.
Great UI, though.
Love to see a Sync for Windows!
@Spencer I agree with you!
I would love to see this Sync on Windows.
One of the best UI available.
Great thing is copying stacks of pictures from Mac to iPhone – so I can get “galleries” of pictures without the need of iTunes sync which cannot be manually done but only folder-based (or iPhoto / Aperture). And I can edit the pictures! Fun.
Switching off WiFi is pointless – if you compete in battery life, then ok. But I’m not. I switch it off only when I KNOW there’s no wifi spot around for many hours (i.e. travelling) or when being in “energy crisis”. And I notice no big difference in battery life anyway…
Wow. This is fantastic. Something to make it LIGHTS OUT would be on the Mac app
