I had the same question as CHRIS, and read the comments all the way to the bottom hoping to see the answer, only to find he was the last commenter, and had the same question:

What did you mean by “non client applications have no such limits” ??

More and more I’m losing faith in Twitter. Their entire business was built on the backs of developers creating third party clients for mobile devices. Now that they’ve gobbled up some apps (and summarily stopped updating them), they’re trying to reign in control over everyone and everything that uses their network. There’s a part of me that hopes they fail miserably, so we can all point at these API decisions and know clearly why it all happenedâ�¦ then there’s another part of me that still loves Twitter and sincerely hopes they pull their head out of their arses.

Meh.

I can’t wait to try out TweetBot for Mac!!
(I’m still BAFFLED over the token limit. I assume you’ll eventually hit that limit for Mac and iOSâ�¦ so why are you continuing?)

These caps are only in place for 3rd party Twitter clients, non client applications have no such limits.
What does it means: “non client applications have no such limits.”
Can someone help to understand?

Tweetbot could consider supporting app.net or have an added integration. Twitter should change their attitude. They are screwing up the eco-system and pissing off everybody.

Great, now I get the message “This version of Tweetbot has timed out, please download a new one”. So what should I do?

My copy of Tweetbot says “This version of Tweetbot has timed out, please download a new one.”

It was working fine few hours ago. Now I have to come back to Twitter for Mac which is a really bad!

Does this have any impact on existing alpha users? From the sounds of your tokens explanation that’s a no, but I’ve noticed I’ve stopped receiving any notifications from Tweetbot in the last few days, and even manual refreshes now take quite some time and don’t update consistently. Is this a related or separate issue?
