Convertbot v1.5

For some it’s been a long wait, but we haven’t forgotten about Convertbot. Here’s what’s coming soon:

  • 60 new units and currencies (including all the old European currencies obsoleted by the Euro). Convertbot now has about 520 units.
  • New and improved way to select units. Hold the unit button for a split second, rotate the wheel, and then release to select a unit. The 3-step selection process can now be done in 1.
  • The unit selection animation is now faster so there’s less wait time between selecting units.
  • Updated Settings UI
  • Search added to enable/disable units section.
  • New support section in settings for easy access to help topics, contacting support, and providing feedback/suggestions.

Here are a few screens of the updated settings:

Convertbot 1.5

And here’s a quick and dirty demo of the new way to select units (the old ways still work as well):

And finally, we should mention that we feel Convertbot has matured enough to justify a higher price point. So once 1.5 is released, the price will become $1.99 USD. So if you haven’t purchased Convertbot yet, you better get it at 99 cents while you still can! Convertbot 1.4 is available now on the app store. Convertbot 1.5 is currently being tested and localized. It should be submitted to the App Store within a week or 2.

Stay tuned for info on the upcoming Weightbot update and then Pastebot soon after.

Awesome! Can’t wait for that update!
I wish you a happy and successful new year!
Keep up the good work! :-)

Just a question really, but why would you want to include “all the old European currencies obsoleted by the Euro”. Won’t that just clutter an interface with irrelevant content.

Perhaps there is a logical reason for including them…

Sounds like a big update I’ll check it out when it’s available. I’d switched to convert because it would take too long to get the information I needed. Have you added Wii points or Microsoft points?

@Alex: Old European currencies have been requested quite a bit. Our app was designed to have hundreds (and even thousands) of units without causing clutter since you can search and only enable units you want to see.

I love all your apps!
Haha just felt like saying that:)

Amazing! So glad you are giving Convertbot a major update! Currently, I use “Units – The Unit Converter” mainly because of the easier selection process than the 3-step process in Convertbot v1.4. Now that the selection process will be much easier, and Convertbot already has a much simpler, elegant design, so that Convert v1.5 would make it my main unit converter.

Thanks so much Tapbots!

You Guys are the greatest two man developer team I know about. Your apps look stunning and work great and in addition you somehow find enough time to update older apps. Thanks a lot.

Hello, I love Convertbot and I’m looking forward to v1.5. I do have one issue with it though… could you please add (US) to the relevent units eg. Gallon (US). At the moment you assume it to be everyone’s default. Adding (US) to the relevent units would bring this app to 5 stars for me.

Thanks for an excellent app.

Good app. Still, no torque conversion? Nm, cNm to feet lb(f) and so on.

I love Convertbot, use it so much at the most random of times, though I do a lot of work with wireless stuff and adding an way to convert watts and milliwatts to dB/dBm would be very welcomed in a future update :)

I thought you might like to hear about one of the more unusual uses for Convertbot. I’m a labor & delivery nurse. Our baby scale measures only in grams. Of course the new parents want to know pounds and ounces…not, for instance, 7.3 pounds. So after weighing the baby, I whip out my trusty iTouch from my scrubs pocket and convert for them on the spot. The interface, with its little clicks and whirs always delights them and…voila…they know their baby’s weight! Thanks for a great app!

@Anne: That’s really cool to hear! Thanks for the story. :)

1.5 is a great update! :D
But I noticed a view bugs.

At first the German translation:
“Minuten/Met®er” is spelled wrong.

“Liter[s]/KM” isn’t translated.

“Im Zusammenhang” doesn’t make sense. You mean Chinese Yuan (CNY). In German it’s “Chinesische Yuan”.

Other Bugs:
“Slovak Koruna” and “Slovenian Tolar” are available twice.

When I press a unit button and release it without moving my finger, the next unit on the lefthand side of my chosen unit will be selected.

The On/Off button of the calculator pauses.

And another thing:
I would translate your support section into a good german if you want it.

Sorry, I meant few bugs. And the wrong phrase is “Minuten/Metrer” not Met®er. ^^

Great app. I have a recommendation for a conversion, just for fun: seconds per hundred metres; so you can see the speed that athletes are covering the hundred metres in ;-)

I work in developing countries and really need an application like this one as I am constantly juggling between random currencies. However two of the main currencies I use are not listed (namely Lao Kip and Cambodian Riel), making it pointless in my case. When do you think they might be included? Cheers.

What, no base conversion? No hexadecimal to octal or binary? Awwwww, I really hoped it would be part of 1.5. This is the one big missing conversion that would make ConvertBot complete! Would you please add it in the future? Pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaase? ;-)

whats the point adding by unexisting currencies when existing one still missing?

uruguay is not there, so its useless for me.

also there is no sizes, clothes or shoes conversion, seems you guys use more the radioactivity calculator than your shoes.

whats next, distance to mars?…cmon, make it usefull , quality , not quantity.

also asking for a flag preview for countries, don’t have time to lose wondering what is YWT or XDF TRG or whatever

thanks and yes its the best design arround..
